Hickory and Its Happenings

It's already halfway thru September and the phone is still not ringing.  How can it be? Advertising is in place. When will the citizens of the US feel more comfortable about stepping out their doors and spending their $$? It feels like the time is right around the corner, in just the next minute but that very next minute seems to get tied up in more red tape or bad press. I'm waiting and trying very hard to be patient. It is coming.....and Lake Hickory Realty will be ready to serve it up!

Wait...the website had a good hit this morning which was well received. But, may have lost an out-of-state client because they can't see our market value, still on CA time, I guess.

On another note.....last night, Hickory, NC hosted the Art Crawl which I enjoyed to the max. Saw a few other agents out and about enjoying our local artists' work and doing some networking. Many of the stores that usually close early stayed open to show off their wares. The Kick-Off Party was hosted by the Fanjoy/Labrenz photography studio while Neil Scott's sax bellowed thru the streets. Charlotte painter Ashley Lathe's works were showcased and light hors d'oeuvres were served. From there, the menagerie included classical furniture, jazz bands, folk art, spray can paintings, and all types of mixed media and beyond. Full Circle Arts had a wonderful display of log-hewned furniture, jewelry, weaving, watercolors, photography and pottery. Beautiful works filled the downtown gallery. The Hickory Wine Shop had a wine tasing. Many ppl showed up to sample the shop's newest offerings and enjoyed the delicious cheese & crackers, too.

Just about every downtown store was buzzing into the evening hours with local artwork. Upcoming events for the Downtown area include Oktoberfest (Oct 9,10,11), a Candy Crawl (Oct 30th), Hickory Lights Up (Nov 20th), Hickory Parade (Dec 5th) and A Hickory Holiday (Dec 10th). We know how to have fun in Hickory. Come out and join the festivities.

Back to reality....the rains have returned and Fall is just started to color the poplars. Yellow is the first hue of the season. Looking forward to visiting our neighboring mountains to partake in the Autumn vistas. Another wonderful reason to live in Hickory, the proximity to all the nearby attractions. Check out this page for more information on the local entertainment.

Back to work....
