When It Rains It Pours in Hickory

Despite the unending flash flood warnings and the 3" of rain measured last week, we are getting out and about. The unemployment rate doesn't stop our hunger pangs for new menus.

Table 220 on Union Square in downtown Hickory is readying to reopen with a new menu. A sushi bar is the welcoming addition to the downstairs. Upstairs has been newly revamped to accommodate guests. Down a few stores, Josh is delighting our taste buds with extraordinary flavors. Hickory is a buzz of sumptuous repasts at this new restaurant. Stop at The Hickory Wine Shop to whet your appetite with a glass of fine wine or cold beer before your meal. The knowledgeable staff will handpick wines to sate your desires. Just ask.

On Lake Hickory at the Hwy 321 bridge, "where the old Key West used to be" an antique and mercantile store is opening. Last week, Linda, a Lake Hickory Realty client, found herself a small corner to sell her wares. Enjoy an expansive view of the lake while shopping for "new to me" items. Be sure to tell Linda Hi!

With winter almost upon us, the warm sun is pushing us out to our garden chores. Most of the colors have fallen from the hardwoods. The Bradford Pear trees are just beginning to redden. These local favorites are the first trees to flower and last to lose their leaves. We hate to see them go but look forward to their next show in Spring.

While showing lake front properties yesterday, my SC flatlanders enjoyed gorgeous long range vistas across Lake Hickory to the South Mountains and beyond to the Smokies. Grandfather Mountain (5,946 ft) greeted us so majestically and so clearly, he fooled us into believing he was in our own backyard.

Lake Hickory Realty is looking forward to a busy week gathering information for active clients. If you are in need of any, just call 828-396-5333.
